The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has supported solid-state lighting (SSL) in the United States for over 13 years, through research and development (R&D) funding that has led to technology breakthroughs, development of intellectual property, and streamlined product manufacturing. OLEDWorks LLC, Inc. is one of the recipients of R&D funding for developing organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials and manufacturing methods, and is the only US based OLED manufacturer. David DeJoy is a co-founder and CEO of OLEDWorks LLC, and also a founding partner in the accounting firm of DeJoy, Knauf & Blood, LLP (DKB) in Rochester NY. On behalf of OLEDWorks and DKB, DeJoy invited DOE to evaluate the new lighting system installed in the DKB offices as a GATEWAY evaluation.
